A creative. An executive producer. A writer. A director. This is how Mpho Masiu describes herself. Talk about slaying at the arts! At the age of 27, Mpho is truly a young woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to carve her path towards her dreams.
Mpho’s first TV break came in 2017 when she featured on SABC 1’s hit drama series Skeem Saam! She played the role of a journalist. Onwards and upwards she went; Mpho’s Skeem Saam appearance proved to be a success because in 2018, she wrote her own film called Motlholo wa Ngwedi, which played on DStv’s Mzansi Magic.
The multitalented storyteller from Khuma in the North West, says she draws inspiration from her background. “I want to be someone who gives hope to the people back home. They need the inspiration, someone to show them it’s possible. My humble beginnings influence so much of my work.”
People can expect to get variety in her storytelling. “My biggest fear is being a predictable storyteller in these times where there is so much to talk about. I think my style of storytelling can be described as diverse,” Mpho said.
