What is a commercial music?
Couple of years ago when I started having interest in music, I wanted to know why some songs are successful and other not. As I was doing some research, I landed on an article by a gentleman named Gian Fiero (www.musicbizacademy.com). He is a freelance music business consultant. His article is titled: The 6 Rules of Commercial Music Success
He defines Commercial music as:
- A song that is popular now
- A song that receives heavy rotation on radio
The bottom line is, the public and music fans are the ones that dictate what is commercial.
So, commercial music are songs that have the following:
1.) A strong hook or memorable chorus.
2.) Good melody.
3.) Well-Produced.
4.) Appealing lyrics.
5.) Keep it short.
6.) Well-Performed.
